The weather on Kiawah Island SC is mild year round. June, July, and August are ideal for beach activities with daytime temperatures in the high 80s and a refreshing sea breeze. August is generally the wettest month with an average rainfall of nearly 7 inches, but the sunshine soon returns. Kiawah Island weather is delightful in spring and autumn with highs in the 70s and low 80s, perfect for golf and tennis. In the winter, nighttime temperatures can dip into the high 30s, but the days are sunny and mild with temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s. The all-time record low temperature was 6 degrees in 1985. Winter is a great time for guests to walk along deserted beaches and enjoy the natural beauty of the island in solitude. Although Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to November 30, the most likely months for hurricanes in South Carolina are August and September. According to the South Carolina State Climatology Office, a hurricane makes landfall in South Carolina only about once every for or five years and the vast majority have been milder storms of category 1 or 2 intensity.
